About Our School

At Sanchez, our shared commitment to social justice is the most important principle that guides our work. Social justice means high standards, a focus on the achievement of all students, and culturally-relevant instruction. Our main goal is for Sanchez students to have access to high-quality learning, positive relationships with peers, their families, teachers, and school staff; and to engage in curriculum designed with them at the center.

To engage in this work, our teachers, administration and staff build trusting and respectful relationships, with students, families and each other. As a result, our learners are comfortable taking risks so they can learn more.

Our Values

We have adopted the shared values reflected in our partnership with the MOSAIC project, which means using explicit teaching around:

  • Mutual respect
  • Open-mindedness
  • Self-respect
  • Attitude
  • Individuality, and
  • Community throughout the school to build positive learning communities in all classrooms and school-wide.

Our Vision

At Sanchez Elementary, we encourage shared leadership among parents, teachers, and students.

Parent leadership helps support students’ academic learning and strengthens our school for future students. Student leaders serve as models for their peers by motivating, supporting, and cultivating positive relationships with other students.

Developing leadership among teachers helps our staff build skills to support students' academic development and increases sense of ownership for our school community. Respect is a fundamental part of our work to create a safe place for learning for everyone.
